Missing in Action

I have been writing – trust me.  Just not here.

hour-glass I have a book due the end of September and the spring and summer were pretty much lost as far as getting work done goes.  So since I’ve been back I’ve been focusing on the story.

I have a little less than a third of it finished and the rest roughed out.  That is, I know the emotional through-line. What I don’t have in mind are all the specific scenes I need to get that emotional through-line on paper.

A couple of years ago I was in this same spot with Christo and Natalie’s book.  And I ended up taking it to Texas with me when I went to stay with our daughter’s family to take care of their daughter when she had a serious bout of mono.  I was the one who could work from home. No one else could.

And it turned out to be a good thing all the way around.  Down in Texas I had nothing else to do but write my book and take care of Glowkid, who was mostly content to read books and sleep.  So I got a lot done.

I considered asking if I could come to Texas to work this month. But then I thought I should stay santa-barbara-sunsethome and see if I could ignore all the house work around here.  Guess what?  It works! (My mother could have told you that it would).

Anyway, I’m writing – and musing and thinking and now that I’m into the second act, so to speak, I’m using my Santa Barbara research stuff, which is fun.

I’ve also had a rotten cold and sinus infection which Nancy the Cat Slayer brought back from Paraguay and gave me as a sort of ‘thank-you’ for keeping an eye on her dog while she was gone.  I told her I could easily do without any ‘gifts’ of any sort. Didn’t work.

thevirginsproposition_usI just got copies of George’s book in the mail, which must mean that Hired by her Husband (that being George) should be out in UK sometime in Sept  or Oct. I’m not exactly sure which.  If you see it on the bookshop shelves, please let me know. I’d like to have a clue!

Also The Virgin’s Proposition – that would be Demetrios and Anny’s book – is out now in the US and Canada.

So if you want to find out what happened in Cannes, check it out!

ps: I still love that cover.  George’s new photo cover in UK, not so much.

Hi Anne! We’ve missed you. Can’t complain though since we get a book out of it ;-) . Happy writing.

  2. Thanks, Lacey. I would rather be doing lots of other things than keeping my nose to the grindstone. But I think I better! So does my editor!

I’ll be back on Monday with comments about a couple of books I’ve just been reading.

Hello. I enjoy so many of your books and am looking forward to George’s story. I have to second your comments, though, on the new photo covers. Ick. The tone is totally different and not nearly as evocative or romantic.

Do you know if the books will be released in the U.S. (where I am) with those style covers, as well?
