I went to California about 12 days ago. While I was there I went to a wedding, a funeral (of sorts), reconnected with, conservatively, several dozen cousins, and immersed myself in research for two books. Or three.
It was a fabulous trip.
I’ll be talking a bit more about it as days pass – when I’m not immersed in writing Nick and Edie’s story. But for the moment, if you want a taste of what I did, check out The Pink Heart Society for Tuesday where I wrote about Research by Immersion – and get a whirlwind tour of Santa Barbara while you’re at it.
Glad to be home. Nick and Edie are raring to go. But first I need some sleep!

Glad you are back safe and sound. I cheered when I saw your name go up in the Ritas.
Phyllis Whitney used to call her holidays — book research expeditions. Immersion research works as well.
Thanks for the cheers, Michelle. I was busy cheering the bride and groom right about that time. Hope you had a wonderful time at RWA!
A lot of my so-called ‘holidays’ are really ‘book research expeditions.’ I can’t imagine going somewhere these days and NOT somehow using it in a book. The ideas just flow.
